Learning in the making conference
On Friday we had the learning in the making conference. The learning in the making conference is about using your learning powers and collaborate with others. At the start, we handed out our lanyards and went over to Marma to listen to a guest speaker. After that, we went to our first break out.
Break out one
My first breakout was funky corner bookmarks they were really easy to make once you got the hang of it. My favorite thing about them was that you could personalize them any way you want. I made a cat, unicorn, and a fox.
Break out two
For my second breakout, I did funky room decoration for that, we could make a spider, a flower, things out of paper or a butterfly. I made a spider. For the body of it, you used a flower pot. You could stick sparkly things on. You could draw faces on we even used googly eyes! We went around the sparkly things. Then we attached legs with a hot glue gun we also had to use the hot glue gun for the antennas. My spider ended up looking like a lady bug/spider. My favorite thing about this workshop was that there were so many options.
Break out three
For break out there I did my life weaving. For my life weaving, you would find lace to tell your life story. I chose to do mine in a pattern. I had mint lace then I had fabric that was white and had a flower pattern at the end I covered my canvas in two different colors but the same fabric so it would look like patchwork. Then you would stick the cardboard to your fabric. My favorite thing about the workshop was that there was so much lace you could choose from.
Break out four
For breakout four, I did cooking we made caramel slice. The first step was to put in the flour then the oats then sugar. We melted the butter so we could put in with the condensed milk which made caramel. While we were making caramel we put the oats in the oven to cook. After the oats were cooked we put the caramel on top. We made the icing to put on the top but it would not be cold enough. So she had made one at her house so we could eat that one and she could take the one we made home. My favorite thing in cooking was you could eat it.
What I thought
My favorite workshop I did was cooking because it was something I don't do much and you got to eat it. I had learned lots of things from each different workshop special cooking. I think the learning in the making conference is a great idea and I can't wait until next year.
